Hungary. Budapest

A trip to Hungary should begin with a tour to its capital - incomparable Budapest. Despite the fact that it is a modern city, it retains the uniqueness of ancient architecture, charm and special atmosphere of cozy streets.

Those who like to travel by car usually book a car in Hungary online in advance. In Budapest renting a compact car will cost around 16 euros per day, for instance in Zagreb rates start from 12 euros per day.

The main square of Budapest is Heroes' Square.
It was opened at the end of the 19th century. to the 1000th anniversary of Hungary. In the center of the square there is a column with the figure of the Archangel Gabriel. A plate is installed nearby in memory of the heroes who died in all wars. This is where the Hungarians lay flowers during national holidays. There are two very interesting museums on Heroes' Square - the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Fine Arts. They immediately attract attention with their solemn architecture.

The majestic building of the Parliament overlooks the Danube embankment.
It was built in 1902. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in Budapest. Combines several architectural styles. In the middle there is a huge dome, and around - towers, arches, windows. The dome is decorated with statues of Hungarian kings. Outside there are 90 more statues of remarkable people of Hungary. The most precious treasure of Parliament is the Sacred Crown. It is believed that it belonged to the first Hungarian king in the 12th century, and now it is a symbol of Hungary's statehood.

The Parliament looks especially beautiful in the evening,
when the lanterns are lit and the building is illuminated in a special way. There are many bridges in Budapest that adorn the city. But the most beloved by tourists, the Chain Bridge, was built in the middle of the 19th century. His image can often be seen on postcards and advertising brochures. This bridge is a visiting card of the city. Tourists love to walk along the bridge, admire the Danube and the embankment from there. It is very original and many interesting moments are connected with it. They say that ladies can check if their husband is cheating on them. If the husband is clean in front of his beloved, then the lions decorating the bridge will greet him with a noble growl.

It will be interesting to visit the Park of Statues.
The Hungarians did not destroy their monuments, which have ceased to be relevant. They took them to a park on the outskirts of Budapest. Now it is one of the most popular parks in the capital. There are always a lot of tourists there.

What cannot be missed in Budapest is the Buda Castle District,
where the Royal Palace and Fisherman's Bastion are located. The bastion is an impenetrable white stone fortress surrounded by an impressive fortress wall. Once upon a time there was a fish market here. The Bastion is located on a dominant hill, from where beautiful views of the Danube and Pest open from the observation decks. On the territory of the Bastion, you can admire the statue of the first Hungarian king Istvan I. The Royal Palace is a decoration of Budapest. It belonged to Hungarian monarchs from the 13th century. Repeatedly the building was destroyed almost to the ground, but it was always restored by the best architects, builders, artists according to the original model. This is the main attraction of the capital. Today, this building houses a museum, whose exhibits tell about the history of Hungary and Budapest. The National Gallery is also located there.

From the hustle and bustle and bustle,
you can have a great rest in the Budapest Zoo. It is very conveniently located in the very center of the city. The zoo is old, built in the middle of the 19th century. Animals live in open enclosures. The most beautiful elephant house. You can communicate with them very closely. Feed, pet, play with kids and sheep. There is a lot of space for children. At the entrance, you can rent a trolley and take turns driving each other. It will be fun. The zoo is also a wonderful botanical garden with exotic flowers and trees. It's nice to walk along the shady alleys, sit on a bench by the pond with swans, colorful ducks and goldfish.

The impression of Hungary will be incomplete if you do not taste the national dishes.
From the hot it is, first of all, goulash, which combines both first and second courses. This is meat with a delicious sauce, dumplings and lots of vegetables. For dessert, try sweet puff pastry pancakes. And for each dish there is a corresponding wine, white or red.
