Unforgettable places to travel along Seine

From the tiny villages of France with their laid-back vibe to the big cities with their iconic landmarks, a selection of places to visit along Seine are must-haves to add to your travel list.

An indispensable assistant for tourists in France is the online car booking service. In Paris, the average cost of renting a compact car will be around 20 euros per day, while in Marseille it will be 18 euros per day.

Busy Castle

Located in Vernon and nicknamed the "Versailles of Normandy" is Busy Castle. Dating from the 18th century, the castle has seen French kings and aristocracy. The vast grounds include impeccable gardens, many sculptural fountains, stables and, of course, castle interiors reminiscent of a bygone era. At the end of your visit, stop by the buffet to refresh yourself and take in the surroundings.

Les Andelys

This city is called one of the most picturesque places on the Seine, but you will most likely notice the Château Gaillard castle before the city itself. The castle, overlooking the city, was built in just one year by Richard the Lionheart, King of England, to protect himself from possible attacks by the army of the King of France. Les Andelys consists of two quarters, Petit Andely and Grande Andely, with the former located right on the banks of the river. You will fall in love with the half-timbered houses of Petit Andely.

Region Normandy

A visit to France is impossible without visiting the famous region of Normandy. Not being a city or town on the banks of the Seine, this region is in the northern part of the river. Filled with quaint towns, delicious food, and historic Normandy beaches, it's easy to spend a few days here. In particular, Normandy has a very strong cuisine. Tailevent, chef to two kings of France, called Normandy home and wrote the earliest French cookbook, Le Viandier. The main delicacies worth trying are camembert, oysters, cider, calvados, as well as a variety of pastries and meat dishes typical of this gastronomic area.

Paris

Of course, we could not ignore the City of Lights. Everywhere you look, there will be history, architecture, food, romance or culture (or a combination of all of the above). Viewing the sculpture garden at the Rodin Museum, walking around the Montmartre quarter or even just sitting in a cafe with wine, people watching, what every traveler in France needs to do.
